All right, now these days teenagers crave vampire books. No, not all, but I myself have given in to many hours searching for the perfect book. From all this searching, I have found three series of great merits, one of which everyone knows, but is great to mention anyway: Twilight- Stephenie Meyer Bella moves in with her father, and not only meets a vampire, but falls in love with him, too. Unfortunately for her, danger just seems to be her middle name. Everyone falls in love with either Jacob or Edward. A new side to vampires, one can't help but envy poor Bella, haha. Now for some (maybe) less known books: The Vampire Diaries- L.J. Smith Although it was published around 1990, and has just been recently reprinted, this story sizzles with vampire action much like Twilight. I almost think it might have inspired Twilight, but I obviously can't be sure. Elena is in love with Stefan, a vampire, while his dark twin seems to be a constant threat alongside other forces that are out to kill! Anyone who loves Twilight will just eat this up, I know I did. The ending satisfied my craving, haha. Vampire Kisses- Ellen Schreiber Goth girl Raven is obsessed with all things goth, black, and vampiric. When a new neighbor moves in and is her dream boy, not to mention he could possibly be a vampire, she can't help but rush to introduce herself! All things gothic are mentioned in this book, and for anyone either into vampires or just the gothic scene or style, this book is perfect for you. _______________________________________________________ If anyone reads or has read any of them, I'd be excited to talk about them with anyone! I just tried to type up brief descriptions of each quickly because to be quite honest, without school, typing this much is killing me, haha. Enjoy!

^^ I'm exceedingly happy someone else has discovered L. J. Smith's books. She's an excellent fantasy author. Have you finished all the 'Diaries' books yet? She plans to write a fifth for Damon fans (and possibly make a series out of it-check out her site at http://www.ljanesmith.net/ ). There are plenty of vampire novels for those who care to read them. To add on Wolfmaiden's list try these titles: Demon in my View by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes Follows a young teen named Jessica as she is hunted by the creatures she writes about. As an author writing under the penname Ash Night, she gets her ideas from dreams. As she enters high school for her hellish senior year characters from her books seem to appear to hunt her: Aubrey the darkly handsome vampire, Caryn the witch who tries to protect her. Marked: A house of night novel by P.C Cast and Kristen Cast Young Zoey Redbird was an ordinary girl, living with the step-monster and mom in a quaint little town, until she is Marked. Marked takes place in a slightly altered reality where vampyres are real, and live among humans. To make a vampyre a child entering puberty is marked by an empty crescent moon tattoo on their forehead, and if they survive four years as changelings Nyx will fill the tattoo and make them adult vampyres. Not all changelings survive, and even in the tansitory House of Night Zoey find enough intrigue and danger to fill her days as a Marked child. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead Rose Hathaway is a Guardian of Vampires, or more specifically one vampire: Lissa Dragomir. Forced to return to the academy after one too many attacks by the depraved Strigoi (vampire who have taken the blood of other vampires), dhampir (guardian) Rose finds herself out of place among the other guardians her age. She has fallen behind in the lessons dhampir are taught before being assigned to vampires, but is more occupied with Lissa and her disturbingly turbulent emotions. See, Rose already died once. And Lissa brought her back. But as a result Rose has been bound to Lissa and can feel what she feels. All sorts of trouble arises with their return to the academy, and the reason they left in the first place hasn't gone away. Vampirates: Demons of the Ocean by Justin Somper "If pirates are bad and vampire worse, pray you never meet a Vampirate" Quite a good series with much to offer in any sense, action, comedy, romance, ect. The viewpoint changes from Connor to his twin Grace throughout the story, and as the Tempest twins embark on their journey this offers some excellent storytelling. Orphaned as their father dies, the twins are cast out from their lighthouse home and must seek shelter with others in the bay. However, everyone offering them home has their own motives, and deeming this unacceptable the twins cast out on their own. As soon as they leave the bay a storm whips up, and thus their adventure begins. I know of a few other vampire series, but they vary from childish (10+) to more 16+. oh, one more series to recommend: Sookie Stackhouse series Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris This delightful series is actually becoming an HBO series titled 'True Blood' come september. It follows the life of a southern cocktail waitress as her rural town of Bon Temps becomes a hotspot thanks to her...disability. The focal point of the series is that Sookie, bar waitress extrodinaire, is telepathic. not psychic, telepathic. She is regarded as slightly crazy by her fellow townsfolk thanks to her ability, and strangely enough for the ability humans revile her for 'supes love her. In this altered state of reality Vampires came 'out of the coffin' and introduced themselves to the world with mixed reactions when the Japanese invented synthetic blood. The US, Canada, and Mexico reacted favorably to this announcement (as opposed to the middle east- they never did find all the pieces of that vampiric announcer) so vampire immigration is high and tolerance on the local level is still varied. When Bill Compton comes to Bon Temps, it signals the start of unusual happenings around Sookie. Extremely satisfying, I'd recommend the whole series (with amusing titles- dead as a doornail, definately dead, ect.) to anyone with the spare time summer vacation is supposed to afford.

Yes I read The Vampire Diaries first two over a year ago and a little bit ago the last two were finally republished, LOVE them. Amelia Atwater-Rhodes has many vamp books, her firdt novel was AMAZING. Also, I thought of these afterwards, The Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce. Not the vampires we see these days, but an older type.

Wolfmaiden, I've got a book I think you might enjoy. It's Moon Called by Patricia Briggs. It has vampires, but the focus is more on werewolves and the protagonist is a coyote (the native american version of a were, it has interesting implications for the views of the supernatural community). Mercy Thompson is a female mechanic, owns her own shop, and leaves well enough alone. However, her neighbor is the local packleader and the VW bug she's tinkering with belongs to a vampire. I really think you'll enjoy it, and anyone else who liked Twilight by Stephanie Meyers.
